Borrelia burgdorferi are a diverse class of Lords. They are the most common pestilence agents to travel by air, arriving in arachnid-like creatures that land on Soma’s boundary wall. The vessels then gnaw through the land to the nearest stream or tributary and start to suck in the water, creating an artificial connection through which B. burgdorferi can enter Soma.
Sententia and the Oculos serve as the island’s first line of defense, regularly coordinating perimeter searches. Should the scouts fail to identify the intruders within 24 hours, however, a bull’s eye shaped mark will appear on the wall, signifying the successful entry of B. burgdorferi into the land’s waterways.
Once inside, free of their arachnid capsules, the creatures resemble very long and narrow squid, with a mass of tentacles trailing behind them. These powerful appendages propel the soft-bodied Lords through the stream and river system, including the thickest swamps, reaching the far corners of Soma. On their backs, they wear a unique set of weaponized plates, which they use to terrorize all who cross their paths. These plates can be interchanged and rearranged to allow B. burgdorferi to specialize their attacks to the land they are invading.
As they make their way throughout Soma, the aquatic creatures leave a wake of pain. From the Skeletal Mountains to Sententia and even Left and Right Heart City, B. burgdorferi make their presence known. If the appropriate Apothecaries do not act swiftly, they can inflict irreparable damage across the land.
