Tigecycline is a younger Apothecary, giving her the advantage of unfamiliarity. She was only 13 years old when she was thrust into battle following many fruitless attempts of the more seasoned warriors to take down Pestilence agents like Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Acinetobacter baumannii had frustrated the Apothecary Army.
Like many of her fellow Apothecaries, Tigecycline strikes by inhibiting the ability of Soma’s enemies to produce key proteins and metabolites that drive their attacks. Depending on the enemy at hand, her attacks can be as effective as some of the great Apothecary legends, including Vancomycin, Aztreonam, Imipenem, and Cilastatin, and she is one of the only warriors who can take down the dreaded Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus. She is also effective against a wide range of other Lords, including several others that have evolved to evade the attacks of her predecessors. Strangely, however, she is ineffective against Pseudomonas Lords.
She enters the land through the waterways, working her way up the rivers and streams to the site of battle, often along the boundary wall or the towns surrounding Soma’s aqueduct. She is relatively gentle on the land and its inhabitants, but her attacks can upset the flow of the aqueduct, accelerating the water out through Faecal Inlet and even causing reverse flow out through Buccal Bay. On rare occasions, her presence has be known to disrupt the pace of life in Right and Left Heart Cities, which can affect the flow of the waterways throughout Soma.
