Amipicillin’s twin brother, Ampicillin/sulbactam, is much more armored than his sister. Equipped with the finest Sulbactam plates, which like other β-lactam armors, protects Ampicillin/sulbactam from Pestilence armies’ lethal β-lactam poison. Ampicillin/sulbactam is thus often sent in against Lords who have grown resistant to his sister’s attacks, and those of other β-lactam Apothecaries.
Ampicillin/sulbactam either enters Soma in the countryside, though can also dive directly into the island’s river system. He can cause some disruption in the aqueduct, but is typically a gentle fighter. He is such an effective warrior against such a diverse group of Pestilence agents, he is often sent into battle when the culprit has not yet been identified. His Sulbactam armor absorbs the β-lactam directly from the environment, prevent it from ever reaching his skin. He fights Lords along the boundary wall, in the Respiro Forest, throughout the aqueduct, and elsewhere throughout the land. He can take down ferocious beasts, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Enterobacteriaceae—and he is undisturbed by the risks. In a rare display of weakness, however, Ampicillin/sulbactam is not effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Ampicillin/sulbactam and his sister share a fraternal bond, and their unsurprisingly similar strategies keep them close, even when they are far apart, fighting infestations on opposite ends of Soma. Their family pride pushes them forward, carrying them through even the toughest battles. Together, the Ampicillin twins are an invaluable piece of the Apothecary army.
