Amoxicillin is a valiant β-Lactam warrior. He has slayed the Lords of Pestilence that haunt Soma for more than 40 years and has become a staple weapon of the Apothecary Army. He is effective against a range of Pestilence invasions in various Soma topographies, including the boundary wall, the Northern and Respiro Forests, ears, and the channel to the Southern Exit. Unfortunately, like the rest of his β-Lactam comrades, he is susceptible to the counterattacks of those Lords carrying the β-Lactamase inhibitor.
To protect himself, Amoxicillin teamed up with legendary armorer Clavulante to design a key piece of armor—a living shield that could effectively block the β-Lactamase inhibitor. Armed and ready, Amoxicillin returned to battle stronger than ever. He enters Soma through Buccal Bay, typically with an influx of fish and other nutrient-rich aquatic animals, and quickly disperses quickly and efficiently to the center of the attacks. In fact, he is considered one of the most effective of the β-Lactam Clan because of his swift penetration.
Unfortunately, Amoxicillin is not always the gentlest Apothecary. He has been known to disrupt the flow of the aqueduct, sending water back out Buccal Bay or rushing south through Faecal Inlet. He can also irritate the communities along the boundary wall. Such irritation is often indistinguishable from the more threatening outcome of an allergic reaction, in which an Apothecary triggers the overreaction of the Nodal Sentry, which begins attacking the very land it serves to protect.
